Charles Kunkle is the Director of Emergency, Pediatric and Trauma Services at St. Mary Medical Center located in Langhorne, Pa. He has over 20 years experience as a nurse and has held multiple positions in emergency medicine, pre-hospital emergency medical services, cardiothoracic intensive care units and honed his skills over the years practicing as a flight nurse. 

 

Charles gained international recognition for passionately speaking about a fatal event that occurred in the emergency department of St. Mary Medical Center in 2005. His lectures embrace the turbulence and emotions that erupted from that traumatic event while trying to re-establish a safe environment for patients as well as staff. Charles is a motivational speaker who captivates the audience discussing topics such as violence in healthcare, leadership, patient satisfaction, employee engagement and patient centered care. In 2011 Charles launched Navigator Solutions, a leadership training and consultation business. As a trusted nurse leader with proven experience in program development, quality patient care delivery, cost reduction and successful team building, he is happy to share his innovative concepts to enhance the patient experience.

Joan Meadows is a Senior Director of Educational Services for the Advisory Board Company, a membership-based, publicly traded research firm serving more than 3,200 of America’s leading hospitals and health systems.  In her thirteen years with the firm, Ms. Meadows has spoken on topics including health care reform, patient care quality and business performance, strategic planning and leadership development.

 

Prior to joining the Advisory Board, Ms. Meadows held COO and CNO positions in Massachusetts and Idaho.  Her career spans over thirty five years in patient care, education and administration in public, private, rural and urban settings.  She brings to the Advisory Board extensive experience in patient care operations, leadership and professional practice development.

Steven Steinhubl, M.D.

TOPIC: Cutting the Cord: The ROI of Healthcare Technology

 

Dr. Steinhubl is the Director of Digital Medicine at STSI and a cardiologist at Scripps Health, Scripps Clinic. He received his undergraduate training in chemical engineering at Purdue University in Indiana, graduate training in physiology at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, and his medical degree at St. Louis University in Missouri.

 

Dr. Steinhubl’s research activities have covered a broad range of topics in cardiology with a primary early focus on trials of novel antithrombotic therapies for the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular disease, and more recently on the application of an integrated systems-based approach to the optimal identification, communication and treatment of an individual’s risk for various manifestations of cardiovascular disease.  He has been principal investigator or helped lead over a dozen large-scale, international randomized trials and has authored nearly 200 peer-reviewed manuscripts as well as numerous book chapters, and abstracts.
